Little Ones

Supporting more parents and babies than ever before

Sarah Carney

This past year we have run our Little ones sessions on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Mondays Little blessing had record numbers this past year as each week we welcomed around 13 mums and their babies.

I was supported by Jane Newland and Anne Button to serve and encourage all these new parents at this vital stage of bonding. We continue to welcome new parents and their little ones all the time and everyone who comes always comments on how welcome and supported they feel. We welcome around 25 adults and their little ones each session.

Our groups had to change in January 2023 and we now run on a Monday and Friday only, combining the Little blessings baby group with our Little treasures toy library session. With the two groups combined the group is lively and bustling and there is plenty of space for all ages and stages of development to play and be encouraged. Our Friday session ‘Little lights’ has continued in the same format as it was started over 14 years ago. Heather Morgan who has served the group since it started continues to support this group by serving hot drinks and cakes. We also have help from Teressa Chalker who builds supportive relationships with the parents.

“Kids are happy and safe and it’s nice to sit and have a chat with other adults and relax a bit. On the craft table it’s great to have everything set up so you can spend time crafting together and have something nice to take home.”
