Movement

A movement to equip a new generation of believers to fulfil their calling

By Rev'd Rich Miles, Director, Movement

Across the South West and beyond there are hundreds of churches with small handfuls of young people scattered between them.

Our vision is to establish regular gatherings, bringing these groups of young people together, to meet with God in a dynamic environment with high energy contemporary worship, accompanied by quality Christian teaching that is practical, relevant and useful.

Our heart is to engage, equip and empower youth & young adults to be all that God has called them to be. Releasing this generation to build the kingdom in their own Churches & communities.

“Movement has been a vital part of our Diocesan response to the call to grow the church younger. It has sought to create worship events across the Diocese, enabling young people (who are often in churches where there are small numbers of other young people) to come together to be encouraged, to respond to Jesus and to grow in faith.”

Dr Adrian Youings, Archdeacon of Bath

In 2022 we continued to develop Movement Worship Nights gatherings visiting, Bath, Bridgwater, Chippenham, Cheddar, Clevedon, Keynsham, Malmesbury, Weston Super-Mare and Yeovil. We have also developed a new partnership with Gloucester Diocese with locations in Tewkesbury & Stroud.

We have continued to develop new resources for young people & youth leaders to use and engage with. An example of this is the Movement worship team have released a further song called “Perfecter” completing the liturgical EP project. You can listen to the songs or find out more at wearemovement.net/worship.

As Movement has continued to grow and develop, so has the Central Team (Matt Orr - Engagement & Resources, Alex Hills - Production, Michael Dance - Media Editor) with its members working part time alongside myself. It continues to be a real privilege for me to see each one of them growing in their gifting and confidence as we journey together.

I am also thankful for all our other talented volunteers that God has brought together to make each Movement gathering happen and to St John’s for its continued support.

As we move into 2023, I am excited to see what God is going to do next in the Movement story.
