Worship

We will praise you God with all of our hearts and glorify Your name forever

Rob & Claire, Worship Pastors

I’m always amazed at how blessed we are with musicians in the St Js Group. With many churches having to move to YouTube, a CD or Spotify music because of a lack of musicians, every week we are still able to deliver live worship for us all to enjoy and connect with.

Our faithful musicians - Kim Cottle, Pauline Preddy and Bob Goode - continue to lead us at Wellow and Foxcote - with Kim and Bob also part of the team leading us at the 10.30am services in Peasedown.

We’ve said goodbye to some team members - Sarah Bubyer, Dave and Kezia Penn - who have moved on to other things in their journey and we thank them hugely for all that they have brought to the team and wish them well.

We have been blessed to have some new people join the team. Helen Attenborough has followed God’s call to use her piano skills and it has been fantastic to see Helen growing in confidence each time she plays. We are also growing the PA/Laptop team with 11-year old Tim Zubko coming along to learn the ropes - mentored by Keith Warren and Luke Martin. And when Luke is on the PA rota he is often ably assisted by little Harry!

Hearing the church sing a song that we have written was a great encouragement and joy

Rob and Claire

The past year has seen many things we can celebrate - here are just a few from Claire and I.

  • On Christmas Day as The Downing’s brass band played the final song it was precluded by a beautiful fanfare that Wes had written

  • Our monthly ‘Prayer and Praise’ Worship evening continues to be an evening where the Holy Spirit just flows and touches people’s lives. We have people from other churches join us and are blessed to have a Welton Life Group join us each month.

  • Worship isn’t just limited to the walls of the church as we’ve spent time leading worship at Life Groups, for the Ministry Support Team, Inside Out, with the Methodist band at Strictly Worship and the Downings played the usual Christmas gathering at the Red Post.

  • Claire and I were also involved in a 24-hour worship event at St Matts, Widcombe involving churches in the Bath area.

  • We gathered together as a church at New Wine last summer and realised that most of the worship team had come along. It was a great time of building relationships, spending time with God and worshipping without having any pressures of leading!

  • And finally, last year we wrote in our APCM report that we planned to write songs for the church to sing - we have managed to do this! It has been lovely hearing the church sing our songs ‘I arise’, ‘Come to the table’ and ‘One church family’. We have received such positive feedback - thank you - which is encouraging us to make this a key part of our ministry.

We would like to thank each member of the worship team for all that they bring to the worship time and for serving us so faithfully.

We are looking forward to the next 12 months and seeing how God shapes the worship team and the worship within the St Js Group.
