Life Groups
Spurring one another on toward love and good deeds
Matthew Street - Life Group Coordinator
The writer of the Book of Hebrews reminds us: ‘to consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing.’ (Hebrews 10:24-5).
Our five Life Groups are therefore the perfect place for us to ‘spur one another on toward love and good deeds.’ They are places where we can go deeper with one another and bear one another’s burdens and are therefore vital to the ongoing health of our four church families.
Four of these Life Group meet every other week in the evening with one meeting in the daytime. One meets in Wellow and all are made up of a cross section of the four church families. Each group is unique: one likes to celebrate the opportunity of coming together to share food whereas another enjoys systematically working through a series on a particular topic whereas another encourages different members to lead each time. We have regularly heard testimony from different life group members on how important their life group is for them and what a special place it is to be.
A testimony from Claire Carr…
We went to stay with my sister for New Year. When we got home Hywel realised he had let his phone charger at my sister’s house and his phone was almost out of battery. 'What am I going to do?' he said panic stricken. 'Amazon can’t deliver a new one within 48 hours'. I said I would put a message on our Life Group WhatsApp Group. Less than a minute later Heather had responded to say she had a spare one. Four minutes later Rob messaged to say he was going to the gym near our house and could drop it over. Hywel had a phone charger that he could keep within 2 hours. So much faster than Amazon!
The next day Jo put a message on the WhatsApp group to ask if anyone had a vax carpet cleaner - we do, which she borrowed. Not just blessed but called to be a blessing too!
A very special thank you needs to go to our Life Group leaders: Charlotte and Nico Webb with Peter and Heather Morgan in support, Rob and Sarah Bubyer with Keith and Mary Warren in support, Shaula Reilly with Andy Fraser in support, Sue Smith and Jo Vening and finally Pauline Preddy in Wellow who have faithfully led our life groups over the last year. They have all successfully held a space open for members of the four church families to come and be refreshed and encouraged in their daily discipleship.
