Building the next gen of Kingdom makers… with help from some puppets!

In September 2022 we started a group on a Sunday at Soul Food for children in years 6 and upwards. This group meets once a fortnight during Soul Food, in the vicarage study. Many thanks to Matthew and Jane for letting us use their study and for making hot chocolate!
During the other Sundays the Soul Youth group join in with Soul Kids in the church hall. During the fortnightly group ran by Helen and Sarah, we have seen an increase in numbers and the beginnings of a cohesive group with friendships being made. Alongside some fun games and plenty of chocolate, we have been using church Bibles to teach the children to find Bible references for themselves. There are many opportunities in our time together for the children to ask questions and share things that they are thinking of. We pray together and have kept a little journal of our prayer requests and answers. In terms of the Puppets ministry, the children have enjoyed learning how to use the puppets with Mary and Kez, they have taken to it like ducks to water! They all have a puppet at home to practice with and we look forward to doing some performances around Christmas time when they should be proficient enough and have strengthened their puppet performing arm!
