A Peasedown St John based Toy Library is celebrating its first birthday this week. Located at St John’s Church every Monday morning, the project was set up by local resident and church member Emily Marquez-Vega, who is the church’s outreach worker to pre-school aged children.

Emily said: “To celebrate our first birthday, Little Treasures Toy Library will be holding a special event with a bouncy castle, face painting and plenty of cake for everyone.

We’ll also have a half price joining fee for the day, and will offer all those that attend the chance to hire one toy for free.

Annual Membership is £5 (proof of name & address needed to join) and this enables members to borrow toys for 3 weeks for a small charge (20p-£1) per item.

The Little Treasures Toy Library 1st birthday party celebration will be held on Monday 11th May between 10am-12pm at St John’s Church, Church Road, Peasedown (BA2 8AA). All are welcome to attend. Little Treasures Toy Library opened its doors in May 2014 to offer parents and children under the age of five the opportunity to exchange toys and other items.

Emily added:“Little Treasures Toy Library meets every Monday morning in the church during school term time. We set out a variety of toys and books which transforms the church into a great area for play. There are vehicles, games, puzzles, instruments, dress-up, baby toys, outdoor toys and more.”

St John’s Church is part of the ‘St J’s Group’ Anglican benefice led by Revd Matthew Street, which covers the parish churches of St John’s Peasedown, St Julian’s Wellow, St James’ Foxcote and St Julian’s Shoscombe and is named after their three patron saints.
