Peasedown youngsters go wild this summer with animal-themed holiday club

Children living in Peasedown St John and the surrounding area are being invited to two action-packed days of fun and games during the school summer holidays. St John’s Church, with a dedicated team of children’s workers, will be hosting the SJs Animal Tales Holiday Club – which will feature the very best entertainment for primary school aged children on 30th and 31st August.

Rob Bubyer, children’s pastor at St John’s Church, said:

‘‘Our church holiday clubs for children have become so popular that we run them throughout the year.

St John’s has a growing children’s ministry that is doing more and more each week to engage and enthuse young people in our village.”

This summer’s holiday club is being supported by Peasedown St John Parish Council, who have awarded £400 from their Community Grants Scheme to fund a giant-inflatable slide for the children to play on.

Last weekend, Parish Councillor Karen Walker presented the grant to Rob Bubyer at the church. She said:

“The Parish Council is very pleased to be providing this sum of money to St John’s Church.  The staff and volunteers who look after children’s work always go out of their way to put on events that are entertaining for local children all year round.  We hope the children have lots of fun at the Animal Tales Holiday Club!”

High demand and popularity means that the 100-space club fills up quickly, so early booking is recommended.

This year’s summer get together will allow children to explore the Bible, make new friends, sing songs and take part in lots of games and activities.

Rob added: “Kids love animals! God loves animals! God created the animals! Often, when we think of animals in the Bible we only think of Noah’s Ark. But God used many animals in the Bible. At our next SJ’s Holiday Club, we’re going to be learning from some of those “Animal Tales” from the Bible!”

Revd Matthew Street commented:

“These children’s holiday clubs are in addition to work we’re doing across the community.

At St John’s Church, which is part of the wider St J’s Group of Anglican churches, we run regular school assemblies, after-school clubs, breakfast clubs, seasonal holiday clubs, and four children’s groups every Sunday. We also hold our Sunday afternoon worship meetings at Peasedown Youth and Children’s Centre.

The SJ’s Animal Tales Holiday Club, which is for all primary school aged children, is just £5 per child, per day.

Both 30th and 31st August Holiday Club days run from 9am-3pm.
