A church in Peasedown St John is giving villagers the opportunity to celebrate and remember the lives of loved ones who have passed away.  On All Souls Day, Sunday 1st November at 2.30pm, St. John’s Church will be holding a special service. During the event, the names of those who have died will be read out and there will also be an opportunity to light a candle for a loved one – along with quiet prayer and personal reflection. The Leader of St John’s Church, Revd Matthew Street, said: “Bereavement is a painful experience. This act of worship aims to give thanks to God for the lives of our loved ones and to provide us with an opportunity to receive the comfort and healing we need when pain and sorrow is acute. Christ’s own words “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” are words which can indeed come true in our lives.   I know that over the years the people who have come to this service have benefitted greatly. It’s helped them cope with their bereavement and to feel comforted.”

If anyone would like to have a name mentioned in the service please contact the Church Administrator Joyce Martin on 07982 241414 or email administrator@stjsgroup.church before Monday 26th October.

A brand new list is being compiled this year, so any parishioners who have submitted names for the list over the last 7 years are encouraged to do so again.
